Current Events Ms. Berry

When is it due? Your due date is assigned. You have two weeks to complete. Write the date on your form so you don’t forget. It will also be posted on the website. If it is late it is 10 points off each day; after 5 days the most you can earn is a 50. 50% of your grade; like a quiz

Where do I get articles? How old? Primary article must be no more than 30 days older than the due date. Must include a copy of the article or automatically get no more than a 50. Do not use dogonews.com! Include full URL of article so you can access it on computer if you need to print at school. Newspaper, WRAL news, Abc news, cnn, fox news, etc.

Author? Most articles will have an author. If no author is present you may write that but be sure to have the full URL so I can verify that your information is accurate.

Summary You must write a summary using complete sentences. At least 6 sentences. Include enough information so I don’t have to read the full article to know what happened. That may mean writing just more than just who, what, when, where, why, and how.

How does this relate to you? How is this relevant to you? How can/will/does this article/event affect you or kids your age? If you can’t answer this then you need to choose a different article. Discuss this with your parents to get help. At least 2 sentences long.

How does this relate to what’s going on in the world? Find a second article of a similar event occurring in another place in the USA or world. It can be no more than 1 year old. Include the URL link so I can access the article. If I can’t access it, then you will need to fix it to get the full credit. How is this similar? How did this event affect those people? At least 4 sentences.

How does this relate to Social Studies? Is it related to: Geography? Civics (citizenship)? Economics? Government? History? Culture? At least 3 sentences.

AIG Current Events Different presentation format but you have to address similar questions. Presentation rather than filling out form. Read over your form and see me if you have questions. All work must be typed to get full credit.
