Job Performance Requirement 10-31 Extending a Hoseline with a Break-Apart Nozzle

A The preferred method of extending a hoseline is to use a break-apart nozzle. The additional hose is brought to the nozzle end of the hoseline and the line shut down with the control handle. Bring additional hose to the end of the hoseline and shut down the line. JPR 10-31A

B The nozzle tip is removed and the additional hose added if it has 1½-inch (38-mm) couplings. JPR 10-31B

C If extending a line with hose couplings larger than 1½ inches (38 mm), then a 1½-inch (38-mm) to 2½-inch (65-mm) increaser will be required at the control handle. JPR 10-31C

D The additional line with the nozzle tip attached is advanced and charged from the control valve. JPR 10-31D
