TRADING STANDARDS

Doorstep Crime is defined as Crime committed by doorstep callers including Bogus workmen High pressure salespeople Bogus officials Distraction burglary

Doorstep Crime most commonly includes: Traders knocking and offering work such as guttering, roofing, paving services. Gardening or tree cutting services. Taking deposits and not returning. Charging prices which would not be 'reasonable'.

Obtaining Property by Deception Distraction Burglary Obtaining Property by Deception Improperly conducted Property Repairs/Garden Maintenance Unscrupulous doorstep selling of goods and services

Not giving cancellation notices out to consumers. Taking consumers to banks/building societies. 'Hard sell' of products, causing fear to consumers. Shoddy or poor work, causing consumers to pay out again. Refusing to sort out problems.
