(B) Genetic and environmental alterations lead to podocyte injury, such as foot process effacement, that causes albuminuria. Severe podocyte injury is associated with podocyte apoptosis and death, resulting in scarring of the glomerulus and leading to kidney failure. CDG-0876 was able to protect from podocyte apoptosis.
