RIPE Accountability Task Force – RIPE 76 William Sylvester, Chair

Our Progress We’ve reviewed RIPE structures, processes and documentation We believe that RIPE is an accountable community We’ve been working to describe this in our report Before publishing our draft report, we want more feedback from the community on certain elements (consensus, values, capture) We all understand what these terms mean, but it’s important that we record them correctly

Accountability Is About Trust The community knows and trusts the people holding key positions (RIPE Chair, WG Chairs, PC members, etc.) What happens when these people leave? If RIPE accountability is not properly understood: Newcomers might not trust its structure and processes External people might not respect its integrity as a community

Come to the BoF – We Want Your Input! RIPE community values Consensus in RIPE The role of Chairs Capture Preserving community norms over time (as people retire and demographics change)
