How do people react to the war? Break away from social norms: Way women dress, the jobs they do, what behaviors are acceptable Governments are struggling to meet needs of people Science and art explore new realities Escapism: to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy.
