Upcycling and Refashioning GENERATION T

What is Generation T? Generation T was created by the artist, Megan Nicolay, an obsessive DIYer. The T-shirt is Megan’s preferred medium - unparalleled in the world of fashion in terms of comfort, versatility, and longevity - and never in short supply. Everybody has a stash of old T-shirts won at sporting events, brought home from rock concerts, gathered at thrift stores, or saved as a random leftover of a relationship that didn’t quite work out.

What is Generation T? Each T-shirt has a story, and it would be, sentimentally speaking, out of the question to get rid of it. So, in the spirit of environmentalism and anti- consumerism, Megan resuscitates, recycles, and refashions them.

Definitions Upcycling - The process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. Refasion - Fashion (something) again or differently.

Project Details You will choose an old t-shirt that you own and give it a new life. By upcycling, you will refashion your old t-shirt and create a new piece of clothing that you will use (you will be required to wear the piece, so make sure it fits!). You can add new pieces and details to your t- shirt and create something completely different. Be creative! :)
