The Beginning

Descendant from the heavens, the gods shaped a brother and sister pair in their image. Strong, confident, warriors who would one day defend the Angolan West African nation. With the family name Mbunde, Ngola and Nzinga twins, floated from the heavens into the throne.

Ngola, the male inhabited the throne of Angola at the age of 13, faced with problems galore. Wars- conquered. Poverty- solved. Women- he had wives for days. However his only weakness was interaction with Non African nations. Portugal specifically, for they had a military force 12 times the size of Angola’s.

One day, the Monarch of Portugal appeared at the Mbunde palace in Angola, and summoned him to a peace conference with his and other leading nations. Too fearful, he asked his sister, Nzinga, for a favor. He inquired that his sister take his place at the conference.

Loyal, strong willed and confident as she, she accepted the invitation, and journeyed to Portugal by boat.

Upon her arrival at the peace conference she was the only woman, and treated as a man. No one had believed she was the representative face of Angola.

They believed her to be a concubine for one of the kings of another country, and treated her as such. Touching her, and shouting offensive slurs, as if she wasn’t African royalty.

Her face was of angels. Her soft feminine features were enough to hypnotize a man of any color. And the curvature in her body- chiseled by the gods. However, she had fire in her eyes, that signified the strength she carried within.

Once she’d had enough of the primitive behavior she snapped her finger and men fell to her beckoned calling. She spoke and all listened, for she was a woman- the face of Angola.

Once the meeting had begun, it was vastly understood that this was not a conference of nations of peace, but a conference of nations to inform that Portugal was to enslave Angola’s inhabitants for massive amounts of gold.

In fear, as her brother had been, of this Portuguese nation, the other countries had signed the agreement of enslavement.

Nzinga returned to her homeland of Angola, and informed her brother that the two nations were now at war. She stressed the importance of Angola’s victory- there was slavery at stake.

The king of Angola was now faced with the fear he’d been avoiding his entire life. The king of Angola, waited a day, to let this terrifying news sink in. The day thereafter he was found hung in his layer, for the burden of fear was too heavy for him.

Her skills in persuasion, both mentally and physically kept her nation out of enslavement. The king vowed to leave Angola as an independent nation, to which he’d visit from time to time to recommit to his agreement. Sometimes you have to put on the charm, and stand up for what you believe in.

It just goes to show you: A woman is a powerful thing, whose ability should never be underestimated.
