CREATING A GOOD POSTER FOR PRESENTATION A step-by-step guide to creating a perfect presentation for your research or project

YOUR POSTER SHOULD INCLUDE background purpose of the research (if needed) content (basic info, graphs, images) conclusions references acknowledgments (for a bigger research)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION explains the idea behind the research suggests the idea for the research problem provides details of the assignment suggests the initiative

PURPOSE OF THE PRESENTATION POSTER to address certain issues in a convenient way; to provide a visual explanation along with the text; to assist with the presentation; to clarify the details of the research.

LITERATURE REVIEW if needed provides a brief scholarly review; reviews the main ideas used in the research; focuses on main sources for research.

NARROW YOUR TOPIC first, define the common category for the research next, draft 4 or 5 broad ideas for the research after that, choose one specific concept/topic narrow it down to the goal of research/presentation

(Educational or Project) PREPARE YOUR ABSTRACT Research Based (Study Related) Purpose Conceptual Framework Method Data Analysis Findings Conclusion/Implications Program Based (Educational or Project) Innovation description Outline of objectives Process description/ possible outcomes Value to nursing program and practice Suggestions for implementation

BALANCE YOUR CONTENT 40% of the graphic content (charts and images) 20% of the text (preferably bulleted information) 40% of the space (average viewing time is 3 to 5 minutes)
