Place Value The exact location or position where each number is located. (Think of place value as the place or address where a number lives!) , . Let’s look at some place values Trillions Hundred millions Ten Thousands Hundredths

I think I got it! Place value is the position where the number is located. Value is how much the number is worth in that position.

How to Read Large Numbers , . 7 5 9 6 3 2 8 4 Whole Numbers Large whole numbers are divided into periods. A comma separates each period and is a signal to name the period. To pronounce a number, read the 3 digit number and name the period. You do not name the ones period. Decimals A decimal point in a number lets you know the number is not a whole number and contains part of the next whole number expressed in decimal value. The decimal point is a signal to say the word AND. To read the decimal part of the number, read the number and name the PLACE VALUE.
