FEET FIRST ENTRY Keep feet together and legs straight. Keep arms at your side. Look for dangerous object in the water.

SURFACE DIVES

FEET FIRST SURFACE DIVE With the body in an upright position, hands at sides, snap your legs together in a vertical scissor kick. This will raise you out of the water. Then sink vertically. As your face goes under, push your hands upward and sideways, palms leading. Keep your feet together and toes pointed to streamline.

PIKE SURFACE DIVE From a freestyle position, start the arm action of the breaststroke. Sharply bend at the hips, angling the upper part of your body towards the bottom while arms continue pulling to the thighs. The legs remain straight along the surface. Extend the arms above the head and raise legs into the air, straightening the body to a vertical position.
