Context Policy Review WS& D 2012: Com Communication WS&D 2007 The Environment Council conclusions of 30 October 2007 - supportive of COM Communication and invited the Commission to review and further develop the WS&D policy by 2012 European Parliament adopted a report on the Commission communication October 2008, calling for a number of initiatives incl. pilot projects and preparatory actions New Environment Commissioner Potoznik has committed to deliver a revised European water strategy "Blue Print for Europe" by 2012 based on a review of the Strategy on Water Scarcity and Droughts the report on the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in parallel to the European Strategy Adaptation to Climate Change

Background First identification of 7 policy options in 2007: Putting the right price tag on water Improving drought risk management Fostering water efficient technologies and practices Fostering the emergence of a water-saving culture Allocating water & water-related funding efficiently Considering additional water supply infrastructures Improve knowledge and data collection Annual Reports 2008 & 2009
