WHO Healthy Cities Phase IV (2003-07) Health Impact Assessment – tool for intersectoral action Healthy Urban Planning – collaborative action with a sector influencing the determinants of health Healthy Ageing – illustrate work on a vulnerable group

Phase IV - Objectives of HIA Raise awareness and create a common understanding of HIA Strengthen capacity within cities to apply HIA at city level Provide results, share learning & provide evidence of HIA’s contribution to health development in cities Mainstreaming HIA to integrate health and well-being into all new city policies

Phase IV – HIA Sub-Network Role: Further develop the tools and applications of HIA in different thematic/sectoral areas To experiment with and promote the introduction of HIA in decision-making processes locally and its application to different types of policies and projects Develop case studies Organise training and learning events for WHO Network cities
