INTERNET SAATHI PROJECT

TANISHKA VYASPEETH Tanishka Women’s Network is a peer-to-peer network of voluntary forums that work towards restoring dignity to women at the grass root level and ensuring their security. Tanishka Network aims to encourage and energize women with the ability and problem solving capacity to voice their opinions and concerns, be decision makers, create visionary change and realize their full potential.

After initiating & participating in various Transformation Projects at the Grass Root Level. Tanishka Women’s Dignity Forum’s 832 members have actively participated in the Internet Saathi Project, an initiative of Tata Trusts and Google Members of the Sakal Tanishka Vyaspeeth implemented the Internet Saathi Project in Maharashtra The internet Saathis trained women in villages at remote and tribal locations from districts Nandurbar, Dhule, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg and also village clusters from Vidarbha and Marathwada region

INTERNET LITERACY FOR WOMEN FROM RURAL MAHARASHTRA Project launch date : 15th June 2017 Women trained till date 4 2 5 1 District 32 Taluka 215 Villages 3212 Saathi 812

Internet Saathis are Women who have completed Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation or may also have some basic technical education and have the inclination to be part of this project. Internet Saathi’s across Maharashtra, participated in a two day training workshop, after the training and equipped with a Smart Phone and a Tablet, they have trained about 700 women from a cluster of about 4 villages

The Internet Saathis, other than getting trained themselves, gets an opportunity to build a network of about 700 women from the selected cluster of villages. Being part of this Project, gives them the self confidence of teaching and training others – Sometimes, prior to the actual training, situational issues are to be addressed. like explaining the objective of the training to village authorities, to seek their support and participation. In short, this is a capacity building exercise for Internet Saathis which eventually builds their personality

Internet Saathi Project has given an opportunity to women from rural areas to get access to relevant knowledge - information from the Internet. They have begun the process of gaining knowledge about lot of relevant, useful topics like Fashion, Health, Agriculture, Education, Cooking
