Horizon B Subsoil Where clays and dissolved substances from Horizon A collect, Contains less humus than Horizon A Horizon C Consists of partially weathered bedrock which is usually the parent rock of the above soil

Did you know…? In some desert areas, a special soil called crytogamic soil is actually alive! The soil is composed of different species of mosses, lichens, fungi, and algae. It is dark brown and crusty. It absorbs water like a sponge and provides a unique habits for desert seeds to germinate.
