East LIN The demographic imperative In 1970 there were approximately 4.3 working age individuals (aged 20-64) for every 1 person aged 65 and over. By 2010, this ratio fell to 1:3.6 And by 2056 it will be 2:1 A double whammy …It’s not just about pensions …it’s also health and social care spend.
