Genotype and Phenotype

Genotype - The actual gene makeup of an organism Genotype - The letters you’re made up of Ex: - Hh or HH or hh

It is made up of two alleles, one from each parent It’s got two letters, one from Mom and one from Pop

Homozygous (Purebred) Both alleles are the same Both capital or both lowercase letters Example - GG or gg

Heterozygous (Hybrid) Alleles are different One capital and one lowercase Example - Gg

Phenotype- The physical characteristics of an organism It’s what you look like Example - Tall, brown hair, …

If there is one or more dominant letter in the Genotype, that is what your phenotype will be If there’s a capital letter, then you’ll look like what the capital letter stands for
