Today’s Goal: Learn how to distinguish between fact and opinion. Outcomes: Define the term “fact.” Define the term “opinion. Explain how to distinguish between statements of fact and statements of opinion. Identify statements of fact. Identify statements of opinion.

Starter #1: What is the difference between a “statement of fact” and a “statement of opinion”?  A fact is a statement that can be proven to be true. An opinion is a statement that cannot be proven: It communicates someone’s belief or judgment.
