Comparative proteomic analysis of human adenomyosis using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry  Haiyuan Liu, M.D., Jinghe Lang, M.D., Xiaorong Wang, M.Sc., Shuzhen Wu, M.Sc.  Fertility and Sterility  Volume 89, Issue 6, Pages 1625-1631 (June 2008) DOI: 10.1016/j.fertnstert.2007.06.081 Copyright © 2008 American Society for Reproductive Medicine Terms and Conditions

Figure 1 Representative two-dimensional gel images of normal uterine muscle and adenomyotic tissue samples. The proteins were separated on pH 4-9 IPG strips followed by 12% sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis gel. The separated proteins were detected by Coomassie blue in the upper two images and silver in the lower images. Marked numbers are dysregulated protein spots and identified according to Table 2. Figure 2 Peptide mass map of protein spot A11. X-axis, molecular mass (in daltons); Y-axis, relative intensity. Numbers near the peaks are the mass of the protein peak. The arrow indicates trypsin autolytic peptides used to internally calibrate the mass spectrum. After matching with the peptide mass in the database the spot A11 was successfully identified as stathmin.
