Massimo Bezzi - Vice President European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises SBS Lift Forum on standardisation “IoT for lifts: SBS participation in ETSI Smart M2M” Ivan Ferrarini – 13th December 2017, Brussels

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President An overview on ETSI ETSI = European Telecommunication Standards Institute ETSI is an independent, not-for-profit, world-leading standard developing organisation for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Founded initially to serve the European needs, ETSI has become highly-respected as a producer of technical standards for worldwide use EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President Membership on ETSI Over 850 companies, both big and small, from 68 countries in 5 continents: manufacturers, network operators, service and content providers national administrations, ministries, universities, research bodies, consultancies, user organisations more than 30% of ETSI members are SMEs EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President ETSI work ETSI publishes between 2.000 and 2.500 documents every year Efficient and speedy standards-making Free download of all standards Electronic working to boost efficiency and to reduce costs and environmental impact EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President What is IoT (Internet of Things) and how does it works? In a nutshell, the Internet of Things is the concept of connecting any device to the Internet and to other connected devices. The IoT is a giant network of connected things and people, all of which collect and share data about the way they are used and the environment around them. Devices and objects with built-in sensors are connected to an IoT platform, which integrates data from the different devices and applies analytics to share the most valuable information with applications built to address specific needs. EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President Maintenance contract Performance contract Based on service time (uptime) Price depends on performance Maintenance is measurable Objective parameters and penalties Our customers can evaluate us Standard contract Based on n° inspections/year Price is the discriminating factor Maintenance is a promise Our work is out of sight of the customer Our customers do not know what we are doing EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President IoT and lifts Monitoring (predictive maintenance) Remote control (remote maintenance) (interaction with other devices) EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President Why partecipating in ETSI? “Identification and definition of clever standard requirements for the handling of communication between each single lift and a related data management center.” The world is changing and we have to keep the pace, we need to look at least at the next 5 years, if we do not want to be pushed out of the market. EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President SBS activities in SmartM2M June 2017 – State of the art on connecting lift to internet in the lift industry September 2017 – 1st meeting SmartM2M in Sophia Antipolis (F) Presentation to the TC members of the new work item about SmartLift November 2017 – 2nd meeting SmartM2M in Sophia Antipolis (F) Presentation of possible sets of parameters to define the device « lift » Explanation to the other members on what is a lift Restricted meeting to explain me how we can transform the device «lift » into a device under the SmartM2M model EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org

Massimo Bezzi - Vice President Next steps in SmartM2M February 2018 Start to write the scope of NWI Better define the parameters and especially the definition of the users who could need an interface with the lift « use cases »: write three or four « use cases » (the standard approach in SmartM2M to develop the standards). EFESME aisbl – European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, 6, Rond-Point Schuman, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium Tel: +32 2 230 7414 – Email: efesme@efesme.org – www.efesme.org
