Presentation transcript:

Time Traveler: Coat of Arms A Coat of Arms is used to represent a person or a group of people, such as a family. Coats of arms are created using a number of elements that tell a story and/or describe a history.

Select a shape.

Choose how to divide your shield.

The Charge. The charge is located at the top of the shield. A knight might select a certain animal for his charge because of its perceived characteristics: strength, cunning, speed, size, etc. What animal would you pick that is unique to you?

Other symbols for the Charge. Domestic Cat Dog Lion Ox Horse Bull Wild Lion Snake Tiger Eagle Bear Ape Monkey Mythological Griffen Phoenix Dragon Unicorn Centaur Strength Brick wall Oak Tree Crown Arrows Other symbols-what could they mean? Angels Flowers Ships Hearts Stars Moon Fire Axe Keys Lightning Sun Helmets

The Supporters The supporters are figures that stand at the sides of your shield. They represent allies, or symbols of your strength. What supporters would you choose? (Who or what supports you?)

The Colors The colors you select for your shield have a meaning of their own. What are some colors that say bravery, valor, and strength? Which colors identify you?

The Motto What words best describe you and/or what you stand for? After thinking of it, use a separate banner sheet to create your motto. Add it to the bottom of your Coat of Arms.

Step-By-Step: Choose your shield. Select your DIVISION (design). Select your CHARGE. Select your SUPPORTERS. SKETCH out your shield on the scrap (Activator) showing your DIVISION, CHARGE and SUPPORTERS. Get approval to go to FINISH. RE-DRAW your shield on the GOLD FINAL (sketching is okay-this drawing will be covered over!) Add COLOR DETAILS in collage and pastel.
