Can small children mistake medicine for candy ? Guide Can small children mistake medicine for candy ?

Explanation I choose this topic, because i have experienced seeing a child get in the cabinets and think that a ibuprofen medicine was a tic- tac.After seeing this i think that it is terrifying and i wanted to find out how many kids at a certain age could tell the difference between them. Also,i wanted to know what percentage of kids of that age made a mistake between them.

10-- Hypothesis --10 I predict that since little kids are mistaking pills for candy.Then if they're really little i think that then they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the two till they’re older.I think around the age 9 or 10 would be the age that the could tell the difference between the two.

Procedure First,i will gather my materials.Then, i will have each child at different ages sit at a table spread out.Than, i will a pill and a piece of candy next to each other(they will have a sticky saying which one is which . I then will give them an index card and a pen. They also will be getting a certain amount of time to figure out which is which and write it down,and how they know that or think that.

My Research AGE OF KIDS----TIMES WRONG-------TIMES RIGHT 3 years old------- 8/8 times wrong--------0/8 times right 7 years old-------⅞ times wrong-----------⅛ times right 8 years old------- 4/8 times wrong-------- 4/8 times right 10 years old------0/8 times wrong--------8/8 times right I gave the kids each 1 minute and 30 seconds to find out which one is the candy and which is the pill i also gave them 8 trys to figure it out.

My Conclusion I came to the conclusion that the age out of 3,7,8,10 that 10 year olds can tell the difference between candy and pills better than the other 3.The older the kids are they can tell the difference better between the two.That means that parents need to keep young children away from pills and put them up in a safe spot,that kids can’t reach
