THE OBJECTIVES The purpose of our study was to develop an algorithm for obtaining functional images of the human brain and its tissue-like phantoms based on the time-resolved diffuse optical tomography The method is based on the principles of near infrared spectroscopy, in particular on the increased depth of sensing in optical transparency window and the differences in the absorption spectra of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. 2

STRUCTURAL & FUNCTIONAL VISUALIZATION CHARACTERISTIC STRUCTURAL DOT FUNCTIONAL DOT Wavelength NIR I (700-900 nm) Two or more wavelengths with one wavelength above and one below the isosbestic point of 810 nm Detectable structures Fibroadenoma, ductal carcinoma, glioblastoma etc.- absorbing inhomogeneities; cyst, edema etc. - scattering inhomogeneities Sectors with increased and decreased oxygenation - absorbing inhomogeneities Features of inverse problem solution Localization of absorbing and scattering structures Localization only absorbing structures (against the background of other tissues) Performance Low due to a wide range of optical properties of the detectable structures and a large number it High due to narrow ranges of optical properties of the detectable sectors 3

The results of the work are to be published. CONCLUSIONS The described method is implemented using the LabVIEW package and is in the verification stage. The results of the work are to be published. Further research will be focused on increasing reliability of the developed method and developing algorithms for rapid assessment of selected neurological diseases. 9
