THE JOURNEY TO THE CROSS “Why Trouble Her, She Has Done A Good Work FOR ME” Part 1: MEASURED DEVOTION Matthew 26:6-16

MEASURED DEVOTION Three undertones: While the disciples/followers are performing acts of devotion and love. The Chief Priests are plotting to overthrow and eliminate Jesus from society. Jesus is trying to communicate His Passion at the cross.

MEASURED DEVOTION Premise for the whole event: “THE HOUSE OF SIMON THE LEPER.” (vs.1a)

MEASURED DEVOTION The Act of Devotion and Obedience: (vs.6,7) Statement #1: Jesus notices all actions of devotion.

MEASURED DEVOTION The Criticism by the Unlearned: (vs.8,9) Statement #2 Guard against Criticizing those who demonstrate sacrifice.

MEASURED DEVOTION The Evaluation by the Lord of a ‘Good Work.’ (vs.10-13) Statement #3: Jesus uses all our ‘good works done for His glory.’

MEASURED DEVOTION The Plot of Betrayal: (vs.14-16) Statement #4: Stay Focused despite betrayal.

MEASURED DEVOTION Life Steps: God is working every day in your life for His Glory. Make certain your acts of devotion have the right motive. It is hypocritical to criticize that which you are unwilling to do. Do not let the ungodly distract you from your devotion.
