IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE “WIL-Africa Conference 2018” Methodology Quantitative Study Sample Population All third year students registered for WIL (CommNet and Software), in total 110 students 74 responses Data Collection Instrument Online Questionnaire – Emailed to all students Data Analyses SPSS – simple descriptive statistics IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

Findings – Student confidence “WIL-Africa Conference 2018” Findings – Student confidence Overall about 50% rated themselves as having low confidence after going through the WIL programme. IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

Findings – Ability to produce accurate results “WIL-Africa Conference 2018” Findings – Ability to produce accurate results 60% felt their technical skills were just as good as their fellow peers on the job 77% highlighted that their bosses relied & trusted the work they produced. On average about 55% were spread between somewhat agree, agreed & strongly agreed with regards to their ability to produce accurate results IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

Findings - Willingness to learn “WIL-Africa Conference 2018” Findings - Willingness to learn On overall about 85% were spread between somewhat agree to strongly agree, with regards to willingness to learn Only about less than 5% showed a negative perception on their willingness to learn IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

Findings - Sharing experiences “WIL-Africa Conference 2018” Findings - Sharing experiences 79% of the respondents responded positively and confident about sharing knowledge with their peers. IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

Findings - Recognition by peers as being knowledgeable “WIL-Africa Conference 2018” Findings - Recognition by peers as being knowledgeable 75% of the respondents agreed with varying degrees that their peers recognise them as being knowledgeable in what they do more than 80% expressed confidence in being able to lead a team IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE “WIL-Africa Conference 2018” Conclusion Background and Aim of this study Framework and Methodology Presentation of results On conclusion this study has highlighted that that after going through WIL, students are more confident in their technical abilities There are certain aspects of technical competence that students still lack i.e. confidence in their abilities IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE
