Putting the students in charge of their learning. Class Meetings Putting the students in charge of their learning.

Purpose of Class Meeting To share information on upcoming events about what is going on in school or the class To solve problems that have been observed in the class To allow students to make suggestions for ways to study new units

The Process Fill out a suggestion form whenever an issue arises in the class that needs to be addressed or when you have an idea for a unit of study. Each week, 3-5 topics will be chosen and added to the agenda On the day of the meeting, the class will: Discuss all topics on the agenda Come up with possible solutions Vote for the best solution

Meeting Guidelines Listen attentively to what everyone has to say and take turns talking There are to be no judgmental tones, remarks, body language or facial expression that indicates anything negative There will be a meeting leader and secretary for each meeting

Responsibilities of the Chosen Meeting Leader Call meetings to order Keep meeting on track (watching time) Open floor for discussions Close meetings Secretary Create agenda Document topics covered/solutions
