Language Arts – Warm Up 01/05/16 SIT IN YOUR PEACH GROUPS. Review the “Tips on How to Succeed in Sixth Grade Language Arts” sheet now. It is an assignment and it is due Friday! Soon, we will view a video called “What is Sequence?”. You will have a corresponding quiz, so be sure to pay attention!

Language Arts – Work Session 01/05/16 Essential Question: How do I organize my ideas when writing? Standard: LA.6.ELAGSE6W3(a-e) –

Language Arts – Work Session 01/05/16 Cultural Heritage Project Narrative First, complete your “Map It Out” sheet, if you did not already. Then, finish the writing section on the other packet. You should have five paragraphs. You may or may not have finished this before the break. If you believe you have all completed both packets, review your writing to ensure what you wrote actually makes sense as you’re reading it now. Select the appropriate grades in the rubric for your writing. There is a separate section for you to grade your own and for me to grade it. Only do your portion.

Language Arts – Work Session 01/05/16 Cultural Heritage Project Narrative (Continued) Paragraph 1 = Introduction Paragraph Paragraph 2 = Body paragraph (first topic) Paragraph 3 = Body paragraph (second topic) Paragraph 4 = Body paragraph (third topic) Paragraph 5 = Conclusion

Language Arts – Work Session 01/05/16 Cultural Heritage Project Narrative (Continued) Do you have an interesting topic sentence? Do you have transition words? If not, go back and add these items on a separate sheet of paper, if needed. Revise your score. Did adding these items help improve your score?

Language Arts – Closing Session 01/05/16 Exit Ticket Review and define the vocabulary items from the BrainPop video. Put the definitions in your own words. Do the best you can! There is a bonus question, too! You can earn a Brain Buck for your correct answer. Your homework packet is due Friday this week.
