Abolitionists campaigned to end slavery

Nat Turner led a revolt against plantation owners in Virginia.

Nat Turner was born in 1800 in Southampton County. In 1821, Nat ran away but came back after a month for religious reasons. In 1828, Nat had a vision telling him to fight against slavery. August 1831, The sun had a bluish-green look and that was a sign to Nat to begin his rebellion. August 21, 1831, Nat's rebellion started. November, 1831, Nat was hanged. In 1831, he and his fellow slaves killed many slave-owning families. This was considered one of the most serious revolts. He was captured, convicted of murder, and hanged.

John Brown He was an abolitionist that led a raid on the United States Armory (Arsenal) at Harpers Ferry, Virginia. He was trying to start a slave rebellion. He was captured and hanged.
