CONTINUOUS COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION (CCE)

CCE has been recommended by the Government to be followed from the academic year 2011 – 2012 for all classes (Std. I – VIII) and in all subjects including G.K., V.Ed., Art, Craft, Music, Dance, Physical Education, Yoga and other co- curricular activities. There will be a continuous evaluation process throughout the year. Children must be prepared after each lesson done in the class. 5

There will be two terms. Ist Term - March to September IInd Term - October to February 6

The CCE is divided into two parts : 1.FORMATIVE EVALUATION 2. SUMMATIVE EVALUATION 7

FORMATIVE EVALUATION Formative Evaluation is to be conducted throughout the term and includes : Daily Observation Orals Practicals / Demonstrations Activities Self Study Projects Self Exercises (Class Work) Surprise Tests (4 Tests) [Best 3 will be selected] 8

FORMATIVE EVALUATION Continued … Surprise test / Written test of short durations. Each test to be based on particular skills and contents. (These will be surprise tests only) Duration of Surprise tests will be ½ an hour for all the concerned classes. Teachers will be informed of the tests only on the morning of the test and will need to stay prepared with their portion as well as their questions, which they will dictate in the class on the day of the test. A copy of the question bank will be submitted to the Principal before the test is given to the students. 9

FORMATIVE EVALUATION Continued … There will be four rounds of surprise tests in each subject – March, April, July, August in the first term and – October, November, December, January in the Second term. (Marks of Best 3 tests will be selected) 10

MARKING SCHEME PER TERM FOR FORMATIVE EVALUATION (TOTAL 100 MARKS AS GIVEN UNDER) Daily Observation -5 Marks Orals - Question, Answers -5 Marks - Reading, Speech, Discussion - 5 Marks Practical / Demonstration-5 Marks Activities - Group Activity- 3 Marks - Individual Activity-3 Marks Self Study-3 Marks Projects - Field Trip -5 Marks - Project on Given Topic-6 Marks Self Exercise (Class Work)-30 Marks (Includes Best of 5 class work) Surprise Tests-30 Marks ( ) TOTAL Marks 11

SUMMATIVE EVALUATION Summative Evaluation will be conducted at the end of the term i.e. September and February. It includes : Orals / Practicals Written test – These written tests will be of longer duration. These tests will be scheduled test, which will be informed to the parents in advance. The written tests will be of 1 hour for std. I – IV and 1½ hour duration for std. V – VIII. 12
