Value Maker Development Session Suzanne Ibbotson & Jess Sadler

Value Maker Development Session Networks What is the Network Maturity Matrix? Where are Value Makers as a network? Where do we want to be? How do we get there? Group Feedback & Action Plan…..

Learn from difference & conflict Connect with what exists Networks “Networks are cooperative structures where a group of individuals coalesce around a shared purpose and where members contribute as peers on basis of reciprocity and exchange” Creative, innovative – resources shared for common good Amplifying member’s effectiveness, rapid learning & development Tips for running successful networks… Learn from difference & conflict Connect with what exists Set simple rules Keep animated Focus on impact

Reminder – Strategic Purpose Fundamentally, why does the network exist? For whose benefit are all our efforts being made? What, in our eyes, is the end that we are working to rather than a means? What is the worthwhile cause to which we are all contributing? At the end of the day, what is the real point of all our activities? Who are we really working for? What is of highest value for us? What is our higher purpose?

Network Maturity Matrix What is it? Model developed by Centre for Innovation in Health Management, University of Leeds and NHS Improving Quality. To assess maturity of a network, self-assessment tool for use by groups to improve and explore the ‘art of the possible’. Importance is dialogue and discussion rather than absolute ‘scores’ – no right or wrong answer. The key is about what’s right for the network.

DH – Leading the nation’s health and care

Where are we now? As a table, score the VM Network against each of the 8 categories. Use your stickers to mark the matrix up at the front. We will then review as a group and agree our maturity baseline.

Where do we want to be? As a table, agree where the VM Network should be aspiring to get to. Use your stickers to mark the matrix up at the front. We will then review as a group and agree our goals for the next 12 months.

How do we get there? Each table to review 3 workstreams each. Develop an action plan for how we get to our target matrix score. Each group to feedback their key points so that we can consolidate into a team action plan. Each workstream to have a nominated lead responsible for driving forward change and reporting back at the next VM event.
