Figurative Language HW Identifying figurative language in music

Requirements Find two examples of figurative language Write the lyric(s) containing figurative language You must include the song title and artist Explain them Tell what type of figurative language is used What is being compared or described? What does the artist mean?

Example from Mrs. M “Firework” by Katy Perry “Baby, you’re a firework Come on, show ‘em what you’re worth” This is a metaphor, comparing two things without using like or as. The singer is comparing a friend to a firework. I think she is encouraging her friend, like saying her friend is awesome, and has more potential than she realizes. “Do you ever feel like a plastic bag Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?” This is a simile, comparing two things using like or as. The artist means, “do you ever feel worthless”?
