Chlorine Line Fire

Accident at chlorine line feeding plant in Thailand On May 11, an oil truck had an accident on a road where the chlorine supply line from a fenceline company to Bayer is nearby. The oil spilled and caught fire. The temperature on the carbon steel chlorine line exceeded 120 Celsius and a chlorine/ iron fire started burning to holes into the pipe. The chlorine release was stopped after approx. 5 minutes. Three people were treated in a hospital. Attached are pictures taken during and after the fire.
