To Love Scripture As He Did Jesus Believed the Scriptures Believed they were from God Believed they were true, accurate & historically valid (Jn. 17:17) Creation & the first couple (Matt. 19:1-9; Mk. 10:6) Noah & the flood (Matt. 24:37-38; Luke 17:26-27) The destruction of S & G (Matt. 10:15; Lk. 10:12; 17:28-32) Ten Commandments from God (Matt. 15:14; 19:17) Moses & burning bush (Mk. 12:26; Lk. 20:37) Miracle of manna (John 6:49, 58) David & the Psalms (Luke 20:42)

Isa. 61:1-2) Knew passages and could quote from memory When tempted by Satan (“It is written…” Matt. 4:1-11; cf. Deut. 8:3; 6:16; 6:13) When asked about the great commandment (Matt. 22:36-40; cf. Deut. 6:4-5; Lev. 19:18) Quoted from David, Isaiah, Hosea, etc. But not just selective or superficial knowledge. Knew & could show “the big picture” throughout Scripture (putting it all together) – Lk. 24:27, 44-45

Luke 2:52 At age of 12 in temple (Luke 2:46-47) “His custom” - regularly at the synagogue (Lk. 4:16) Jesus exhibited the deep desire of Matthew 5:6. No formal education (John 7:15), but He still knew! To be like Him, we must know the Scriptures! Matt. 22:29

Luke 4:16) Respected its eternal, abiding nature Every letter (Matt. 5:17-18) Every word (John 5:18; 10:33-36) Every verb tense (Matt. 22:23-33) Recognized it was unbreakable Old Testament (John 10:35) New Testament (Matt. 24:35)
