History of the SEDC NEDPI (2004-2007) launched SchoolMatters.com—the first free, public access website to education data (demographics, performance, fiscal, etc.) at the school, district, and state levels. NEDPII (2007-2010) seeks to continue a national website under direction of the states. Rebranded the original SchoolMatters.com as SchoolDataDirect.org (SchoolMatters continues as website specifically for parents); provided for a data download tool for researchers; organized the SEDC to guide the development of SchoolDataDirect.org and explore other value-adds for state education agencies and ‘light researchers’. Flat, pipe-delimited format Some files contain too many records to be opened fully in spreadsheet applications, so it is recommended that you use statistical analysis software to work with these files.
