PSYCHOSIS: INSIDE THE MIND OF AN UNRELIABLE NARRATOR THE TELL TALE HEART VS THE BLACK CAT

TELL TALE HEART SIMILARITIES THE BLACK CAT

PSYCHOSIS Psychosis: a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.

TTH VS TBC Both narrators experience a form of psychosis and react aggressively. The narrator in TTH becomes obsessed with the old man`s eye, later murders him and hides his corpse under the floor boards which he then begins to hear the sound of the old man`s beating heart. The narrator in TBC, consumed with alcohol and rage, proceeds to gauge out his cat`s eyes, hang his cat, kills his wife and then entombs his wife`s body within a wall.

PSYCHOSIS ACTIVITY IN GROUPS OF 4 OR 5, YOU WILL REENACT A SCENE FROM EITHER TTH OR TBC. IN THIS PARTICULAR SCENE, YOU WILL HAVE TO IMAGINE, ACT AND EXPRESS THE NARRATOR`S THOUGHT PROCESS: BEFORE, AND DURING THEIR HEINOUS CRIMES.

PSYCHOSIS ACTIVITY YOU WILL NEED TO INCLUDE IN YOUR SKIT: 1) BACKGROUND MUSIC TO SET THE MOOD FOR BEFORE AND DURING THE PSYCHOSIS. 2) INCLUDE CHARACTERS FROM THE STORY 3) EXPRESS THE EMOTIONS BEFORE AND DURING THE PSYCHOSIS 4) IT NEES TO BE APPROX. 2-3 MINUTES LONG
