Primary Newsletter – Friday 15th December 2017 CHRISTMAS This week, we have had a really busy week of Christmas events. We have had our Year 2 Nativity, our Phase 1 concert, a group of children went carol singing in Lewisham Shopping Centre and at the local care home and our year 4 and 5 dancers performed in the Academy Christmas Showcase. Next week, we have the Year 3 – 6 carol concert in the drama studio at 2pm, and parents and carers are more than welcome to attend. YEAR 2 NATIVITY On Monday, Year 2 children performed ‘Noisy Nativity’ and they did a fabulous job at telling the very special story of the First Christmas. Year 2 children were very professional and didn’t let the fire alarm get in the way of them finishing their spectacular performance! Well done Year 2. CAROL SINGING IN LEWISHAM SHOPPING CENTRE On Monday a choir of children from years 3-5 went to Lewisham to sing carols in the shopping centre. They sang beautifully and were really well received by the general public CAROL SINGING AT LEAH LODGE CARE HOME On Wednesday, class 3W went to visit Leah Lodge, a local nursing residence. They performed carols for the residents and were treated to hot chocolate and gingerbread houses! The residents commented on how well behaved the children were and their beautiful singing. We hope to be making more visits to Leah Lodge in the near future and to develop more community links.

Let Your Light Shine PHASE 1 CHRISTMAS CONCERT On Wednesday morning, our Phase 1 children (Reception and Year 1) performed confidently in their Christmas concert. Well done children! Tickets were provided free of charge by The Albany through their project 'A Theatre Trip For Every Child' which aims to send all children aged 5 to the theatre this year. More of our year 1’s will be taking part in this scheme later in the year. We are very grateful for this opportunity and thankful to the donors of this scheme. END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS Tuesday 19th December is the last day of term and children may come into school either wearing a Christmas jumper, or a Christmas theme (eg red or green clothes). There is a voluntary donation of £1 on this day, and the money will go to charity. It is half day, and children will be dismissed on a staggered basis at 12.10pm. There are no clubs and there will be no facility to look after children collected late, so it is vital that all children are collected on time. On behalf of all of the staff, I would like to wish you a very happy and peaceful Christmas with your families. See you in the New Year Mrs Beckley YEAR 6 PARENT MEETING On Monday 18TH December Mr Kohlbeck is holding a very important meeting for all Year 6 parents to discuss Year 6 SATs. We will also be talking about the Year 6 residential which is planned to take place next year. The meeting will take place in the Year 6 classrooms at 3pm.
