Evidence & Set up Highlight your textual evidence and citation in blue Highlight the word that indicates blame or fault, along with the character’s name in your set up, in pink (Ex: the mother is to blame for the relationship) Highlight the background info/context in yellow If your set up ends with “when he says” or “by saying” check to make sure a comma precedes your evidence If your set up does not end with the above phrases, check to make sure a colon precedes your evidence. Your ending period should come after the citation. No periods or commas at the end of your evidence.

Analysis Highlight in blue any references back to your evidence NOTE: You should not Re-quote the whole evidence, just a couple words or phrases that you’re focusing on Highlight in pink any form of the word “blame” or “fault” Highlight in yellow where you tell HOW the evidence shows blame or fault

In the whole DJ… Circle any first/second person pronouns (I/you). Get rid of them. NOTE: If these pronouns are in the textual evidence, leave them alone. Check spelling & make any needed corrections Jing-mei Check that the first word of all sentences & textual evidence are capitalized. Fix if needed.
