LESSON 1: Using Mental Math to Divide Mrs. Haney bought 210 pencils to give out to seven different classes who donated the most presents to the toy drive. Each class has the same number of students in it. Teri said you could use the basic math fact 21÷7 to solve how many pencils each class will receive. Explain why Teri is correct.

Problem #2 Makayla has 392 gum balls that she wants to store in 6 jars. She wants to divide them equally among the jars. Explain how many will be in each jar and how many will be remaining. Then tell how the answer is reasonable.

Problem #3 Solve: 523 % 4 = 327 % 5 = 2,867 % 3 =

Problem 4: Erica and two friends are mixing their snacks together to make snack mix. Erica has 15 m&ms, Maddie has 15 pretzels, and Jordan has 30 almonds. If they divide their mix evenly into 3 bowls, how many snack pieces will they each get? Explain how you got your answer using equations (and sentences!).

Problem 5: Bekah purchased 48 Shopkins at Target. She wants to place the Shopkins into their bags with the same number going into each bag. She also wants to make sure she puts at least 2 Shopkins into each bag, but no more than 12 into each bag. Bekah can place
