Agenda Understanding SharePoint platform complexity DELIVERING SHAREPOINT AS A SERVICE Agenda Understanding SharePoint platform complexity Repositioning SharePoint as a service platform Building the Service Definition for SharePoint The SharePoint Service Roadmap Organizing around the SharePoint Service SharePoint Service Governance SESSION ABSTRACT As SharePoint is adding more complexity in enterprise it infrastructure and becoming more and more critical for business, the need to reshape the way companies align SharePoint to business needs are growing. In this session you will learn about how to regain control, by using SharePoint in a Service delivery context. We will talk about the process of designing a generic SharePoint service, that span software versions, infrastructure and business requirements, and provide a common scope for SharePoint in the enterprise. As the talk progresses you will see real life examples of SharePoint service definitions, that can be used as a starting point for most companies. This session is about giving your SharePoint investments new life, by repositioning the technology as something the business can relate to and define the scope of SharePoint to where it makes a difference.

Repositioning as a service DELIVERING SHAREPOINT AS A SERVICE Repositioning as a service What is a Service? Something that is well defined and described Something you can communicate clearly to your customers (the business) Something you can give a price tag Something you can deliver, manage and control Something you customers can order from you

Repositioning as a service DELIVERING SHAREPOINT AS A SERVICE Repositioning as a service 1. Service Foundation - Build your SharePoint strategy - Establish and educate the delivery organization - Start strategic communication with business 2. Service Catalogue - What are you delivering? (not SharePoint!) - Service Catalogue of standard services - Service options - Pricing / Cost recovery - Prepare a Service roadmap for SharePoint 3. Solution marketplace - Communicate / market your service offerings - Market yourself as the best provider of services to your business - Prepare for “competition” 4. Manage and deliver - Standardize - Automate - Govern - Evolve Build new services, be proactive and stay ahead

The SharePoint Service Roadmap DELIVERING SHAREPOINT AS A SERVICE The SharePoint Service Roadmap A plan for the future… We need a roadmap to… …understand what services and functionality can be offered at what time …be able to scale resources in the service delivery team …be proactive in budget planning (short term vs. long term planning?) …be able to make important prioritization along the way The SharePoint Service Roadmap should include; Development and launch of new managed services Infrastructure updates High level business plans High level cost and resource estimations Mapped to the governance framework implemented Business Applications Managed Processes Platform Services
