Chapter Two: The Resolution MORE STUFF FOR SHSMUN Chapter Two: The Resolution

Purpose Resolutions are all about the solutions to the problems you are facing Solutions should reflect the research you have done and be based on your countries position on the issue Some resolutions will be passed onto General Assembly to be discussed

Two Types of Resolutions Pre-conference resolutions Super resolutions These will be a single states solution to the problem These will be placed on a docket for discussion at SHSMUN These aren't passed very often because they are shorter and not as inclusive as super resolutions These are authored at SHSMUN by multiple states Will have a much broader range of solutions to a problem  Will often contain sections of pre- conference resolutions

Pre-Ambulatory These clauses will have two primary purposes To acknowledge the issue which you are trying to solve To observe something which has been helpful or hurtful to the issue These will begin with words like affirming, acknowledging, aware, emphasizing, guided by, or seeking Use commas to separate pre-ambulatory clauses

Operative These clauses will be focused on solutions to the issue There should be strong biased wording in your operative clauses These clauses will begin with words like condemns, declares, designates, proclaims, recommends, supports, or trusts  Use semi-colons to separate operative clauses

Examples Pre-Ambulatory Operative Guided by the pointless loss of civilian life due to cluster munitions after combat has ceased in a region, Aware of the Convention on Cluster munitions, Emphasizing the need to protect women and children from UXOs specifically those left from cluster munitions, 1. Trusts the responsibility to properly record the areas where cluster munitions have been used in combat with the state which dropped the cluster munition; 2. Designates the state which used a cluster munition to remove the UXOs from an area which has been affected by the munition;
