What makes a Stanza? The repetition of rhyming and lineation (line length) gives the stanza it’s form and power Stanzas can be both an independent poetic form and part of ballads etc. Poets would create patterns with stanzas to give the reader something to view as they read the poem

Lord, Who createdst man in wealth and store,         Though foolishly he lost the same,               Decaying more and more,                       Till he became                         Most poore:                         With Thee                       O let me rise,               As larks, harmoniously,         And sing this day Thy victories: Then shall the fall further the flight in me. My tender age in sorrow did beginne;   And still with sicknesses and shame         Thou didst so punish sinne,                   That I became                    Most thinne.                     With Thee                 Let me combine,       And feel this day Thy victorie;     For, if I imp my wing on Thine, Affliction shall advance the flight in me Easter Wings By: George Herbert

Instructions Read and annotate both poems (12) Answer the questions using complete sentences. The extended response about which poems is better needs to be at least one full paragraph in length. Finish any late work
