Red Cross Club! October 29, 2012

Sorry for the Inconvenience  Supposedly, Red Cross Club wasn’t supposed to be meeting up until next week, and we are not sure why. The next meeting will be next Monday! (We will be SURE we are approved) There were a lot of important things we wanted to go over with you guys, today, but we did not get the chance. Try to bear with us, and follow through with this PowerPoint in order to understand what today’s meeting was all about!

Northwest Harvest For our first projects of the year, we wanted to team up with the Northwest Harvest Food Bank. It is located in Kent, WA, and is a non-profit food bank distributor operating statewide. We thought it would be a great opportunity if we could take members – twice a quarter – to Northwest Harvest so we could sort, distribute, and package food for the needy! They are quite simple tasks! Anyone 16 or older can participate if they can get a parent permission form signed (which we will have available for all members next meeting). If you are 15 and younger, then you must bring an adult guardian with you.

Northwest Harvest (cont) Here are the Friday shifts open to us (because Saturdays are booked until next year): November 16 November 30 December 7 December 14 From 1-3 p.m. Keep these dates in mind, as next meeting, we will all vote on the two best dates for us to go down to volunteer there as a club!

THIS SUNDAYY!!!! Upcoming event: Sunday, November 4: Seahawks Tackle Hunger.  Volunteers help us by collecting donations from fans at Century Link field. Are you members interested in going? (see the next slide for more details)

Upcoming events (cont)… Seahawks Tackle Hunger (details) Time: 9:30am – 1:30pm (There is only one shift for this event so we are asking that volunteers be prepared to stay for the entire 4 hours.) Location: CenturyLink Field Duties: Volunteers will help Northwest Harvest by: · Holding signs · Collecting donations · Sharing information about the work of Northwest Harvest

Upcoming events (cont) Rain or shine: All volunteers will be outside the stadium, rain or shine. It’s possible that a few volunteers may go inside to a select area inside the stadium, but please note that for this event, most of our volunteers won’t be going inside the stadium and should be prepared to be outside from 9:30am – 1:30pm. (And unfortunately, we aren’t able to provide tickets to the game for volunteers at the end of the shift. We definitely wish we could!) Youth volunteers: Youth volunteers are welcome at this event! Volunteers 15 and under must have an adult accompany them, and volunteers 16 or 17 just need a parent permission form to volunteer without a parent or guardian. Perks: Snacks delivered to you while you’re volunteering and at the end of the shift, a volunteer raffle with great prizes!

SeaHawks Tackle Hunger Do you guys want to do this event this Sunday (4th) … if you do, then we all are taking the light rail to Century Link Field. Dress warm because we will be outdoors! NEXT MEETING: NOVEMBER 5th And… oh yeah. The PR elections have been pushed back to next week! See you all then!!

Have A Great Week!
