The Perfect Formula

The components to support life Temperature Water oxygen

Temperature The Earth is just the right distance from the sun. Just a little closer to the sun and we would all burn up. A little farther and we would all freeze.

Water Water is essential for life to thrive. Earth is the only planet in our solar system that possesses liquid water. Our moon is the perfect distance away to stop our oceans from overflowing.

Oxygen Oxygen arrived when microscopic bacteria breathed it into our atmosphere. Oxygen was forged in the hot cores of stars. It is the third most abundant element on the planet.

Why it is significant The Earth possesses properties that are not present in any other planet ever discovered. It is hard enough to find water on other planets, but to have water, an atmosphere, and oxygen is a rare thing in the universe. There are billions of stars in the galaxy with their own solar system. There are billions of galaxies in the universe. The probability of a planet supporting intelligent life is improbable, because the conditions necessary are so rare. That is why Earth is so significant.
