Applying to a service academy The 3 main criteria topics Emily Isbell

Academics (33% weight) Admissions look for Impressive academic performance in high school High SAT and/or ACT scores High ranking and GPA Statistics 54.4% were in the top 10% of their class 79.0% were in the top 20% of their class 85.3% were in the top 25% of their class Average GPA: 3.83 on a 4.0 scale

Athletics (33% weight) Admissions look for 2 years participation in a UIL sport High Candidate Fitness Assessment results Statistics 79% were in 1 or more/any sport 21% football 12% basketball 8% baseball 27% track 11% swimming 15% soccer The Candidate Fitness Assessment is a basic fitness test that evaluates coordination, strength, speed, agility, endurance, and how well a candidate will keep up with the daily athletic demands. The CFA is a required pass or fail test. Failing will most likely disqualify an applicant during the application process.

Applying to the academies is much lengthier than applying to any other college or university. With such a rich history, the academies weigh each decision very carefully. Thousands of candidates meet the basic requirements, but they only select the best and most talented young men and women to represent our nation.
