PIT Task Lists Long Range PIT Team F. Lin

Long Range PIT Team Goals Investigate, understand, and improve long term SRF linac performance Quantify/Summarize performance as built Suggest and implement measurement plans to quantify performance changes Work to understand any changes observed Suggest improvements in operations processes and/or hardware and implement

Known Issues Cryo Loading? Cryo Instrumentation Field Emission: How to Improve He Processing Field Emission Changes? Maintenance/Improvement Program Q Degradation Reducing Linac Trip Rates Operations Reductions of E_max LEM Improvement through Better Optimization Processes

Known Issues Microphonics Damping and/or rework of R100 Plasma Processing? No one to shepherd so any action deferred Understanding Q changes between vertical and horizontal tests, and tunnel placement Understanding and eliminating flux trapping and flux sources Quantifying the overall cryo loads and system capacity and revisit static loads Understanding spontaneous arcing and rapid loss of gradient

Known Issues Proper maintenance cryomodule rebuilding program to preserve 12 GeV LLRF ungrades, particularly for C50s and improvement of heater controls there Increase ability to diagnose field emitters (X-ray diagnostics?) and understand Q effects "Better" pressure diagnostics Understand better "accelerating system wide" problems Data Management Others?

Themes Quantify/Summarize Performance as built (Krafft Lead) Data Management Field emission and mitigation (Drury Lead) He Processing Plasma Processing Field Emission Changes? Maintenance/Improvement Program Increase ability to diagnose field emitters (X-ray diagnostics?) and understand Q effects

Themes Operations and Operations processes (Freyberger Lead) LEM Improvement Operations Emax changes and process Cryo Load reconcilliation and enhanced diagnostics. "Better" pressure diagnostics Trip Rates and Trip Rate Reduction (maybe included above) Understanding spontaneous arcing and rapid loss of gradient Microphonics damping and/or rework of R100 LLRF ungrades, particularly for C50s and improvement of heater controls there

Themes Construction Issues (Geng/Rimmer Lead) Understanding Q changes between vertical and horizontal tests, and tunnel placement Understanding and eliminating flux trapping and flux sources

Process Regular Report Every 2 months Start with “Study Plan” Meet with other group members 7-10 Task items on a Gant Chart Specify some deliverables Plan for a year to two
