Email: ademel@elkhartisd.org Phone: 903-764-2979 Conference M -T - F- 2:30-3:15 W -Th -8:05-8:50 Week of October 30,2017 10/30- Progress Reports 10/31- Halloween Dress Up Day Parade 8:30 a.m. 11/1- Big Kahuna money and forms due 11/11- Fall Fest 5-7 p.m. 11/13-11/16- Parent Report Card Pick Up 11/14&11/16- No tutorials 11/17- Thanksgiving Play 10:30 11/17-Thanksgiving Lunch in Cafeteria 11/17- Big Kahuna deliveries 11/21- Early Release 11/22-11/24- Thanksgiving Break Language Arts and Reading- In spelling we will focus on long o, using o,oe,oe, and ow. We will work on inferencing, endings –s and –es, suffixes, and headings. Math-We will start Unit 6. This unit will introduce regrouping two digit addition problems. This is a very hard concept for 2nd graders. The homework I will be sending home will help with mastering the skills. If your child is struggling I suggest downloading a paper set of base ten blocks for the students to use at home. Science-Earth and Space Social Studies- Community Helpers, Government, and Christopher Columbus. Health-Safety and Drug Prevention We will not have a Halloween party, but it would great if you would like to send treats on October 31st! We currently have 17 students in our class.  Fall Fest is November 11th from 5-7 p.m. on the softball field. Our grade level has a snack walk. I am asking that my class bring one box of a dozen snacks such as, Little Debbie's, Rice Krispy Treats, snack cakes, etc. Please NO candy. Please send these on or before November 10th. I will have Parent Report Card Pick Up November 13th-16th. I will be sending home a schedule soon. Time slots will be first come first serve. I will ask that you pick three times to meet with me, and I will return the schedule to you with the selected time. Students need 10 points between October 10th-November 10th with an 80% average for the 2nd 6 week prize. Second grade students must have 35 points and an 80% average for the Fall Party before December 15th. CLASSROOM NEED: WE NEED ONE PACKAGE OF TALL WHITE SOCKS. I will cut them up for white board erasers. Anyone who could donate, that would be wonderful!  Thank you in advance.
