2017-2018 DHS Course Registration for Rising 10th Graders

Helpful notes The deadline to sign up for classes is Friday, February 17. You must sign up for 8* Primary courses and 2 Alternates. Choose Alternates with care as there is a high probability they will be put into your schedule if there is a scheduling conflict. Alternates that are a repeat of courses that have already been requested will not be considered for placement. *If you sign up for Driver’s Ed, you’ll only have 7.5 units. Along with your courses, you must select at least one School of Study. A School of Study is directly related to your college and career goals. See the Curriculum Guide for more information about Schools of Study. Please use your IGP as a guide to selecting courses.

If you receive an Error message related to Prerequisites but feel that you meet the Prerequisites, speak with your teacher. During the online registration period, you will not be able to directly register for Dual Enrollment courses (listed in Curriculum Guide). Instead, you should sign up for equivalent Dorman courses; pick up a Dual Enrollment Packet in the Guidance Office; submit completed Dual Enrollment forms and qualifying test scores to Mrs. Crum in the Guidance Office. DHS Guidance will add the Dual Enrollment course and drop the Dorman course. (Ex: Add ACCT 101; Drop Accounting I)

Choose your courses carefully Choose your courses carefully. The types and number of courses that Dorman will offer next year, and when those courses will be offered, is based on course requests from this registration. In other words, the master schedule for the entire school, including your individual schedule, is based on registration. It may not be possible to make schedule changes after the end of the school year. At the end of Registration, your course selection will be used to create a Course Request Form that will be distributed later in the school year. You and your parent will review and sign this Verification form to confirm your requests. Please note: There are many people at Dorman who are looking out for your best interests, but it is your primary responsibility to make sure you are enrolled in the courses that you need for Graduation and future college/career plans.
