Social Sustainability Social sustainability occurs when the formal and informal processes, systems, structures, and relationships actively support the capacity of current and future generations to create healthy and liveable communities. Socially sustainable communities are equitable, diverse, connected, and democratic and provide a good quality of life. -Stephen McKenzie

Using the Sustainability Movement to Your Advantage •We must first understand the systems in which we work before we can effect change. •Incremental change is the goal, don’t be overwhelmed by all the possibilities for change. •Focus on the initiatives where you can have great impact. •Get constant, thorough, and unfiltered feedback from constituents. •Get comfortable with the fact that you don’t have all the information that you need, and you don’t have all the answers but together, we keep working, tweaking, adapting, and making the world a better place. •Co-create a shared vision for your campus.
