Class Biz! Class Info.... Year 4/5 Welcome.... What's Going On.... Reading – There will be weekly guided reading with the teacher. Children can change their individual books whenever they have finished them, even if an adult has not been able to listen to them. Bring them in daily please. In year 4/5 children are expected to read 10 minutes a night. ‘Love to Learn’ - This term there will be individual rewards for completing ‘Love to Learn’ work. This will be given out on a Friday to be returned the next Thursday. Thursday - PE – Outdoor PE Kit needed. Year 4/5 Welcome.... Welcome back after a lovely Summer break! Hope you all had fun and enjoyed the time off. We have a busy term ahead and our new theme is exciting – all about World War 2! Mr Baker-Rees What's Going On.... Other Biz.... After school clubs to start very soon, check the news letter for more information. Water bottles need to be taken home regularly for cleaning. New water bottles can be purchased from school. Fruit – 30p a day 1st week of October – Storm Workshop (Dylan Thomas Theatre). 9th of October – WW2 Trip - Swansea Bay (Year 4) 10th of October – WW2 Trip – Swansea Bay (Year 5) TBC – WW2 Remembrance Day Keep checking the newsletters too!!

SAVE, MEND AND TAKE COVER! – WW2 My Learning in the Core Subjects.... In English, our main area of learning will be based around Argument and Persuasive writing, finding out the best way to present information when discussing particular view points including adverts and posters. In the area of Maths, place value will be a main focus looking at the value of numbers. Following this, addition and subtraction will be built upon. Within Science, Forces of different kinds will be the main target of learning looking at the way and which forces can effect movement and how forces are compared. Our Theme.... SAVE, MEND AND TAKE COVER! – WW2 My Learning in other Subjects.... Across other areas of learning, we will be focusing on WW2. In particular Life At Home will be looked at finding out how it affected people’s everyday lifestyle.. Air Raids and Shelters will also be an area where the children will discover what it was like to be a child/evacuee during the World War 2. Pupils will also have the opportunity to develop their creative skills looking at fashion during the 1930’s/40’s along with designing, creating and evaluating World War 2 machinery. In ICT children will develop the effective use of devices in learning situations, along with using it in a safe manner.
