Reaction to Total Aggression Isolation vs. Intervention

Using your knowledge from prior learning of isolationism and interventionism, interpret the political cartoon here. 

Using your knowledge from prior learning of isolationism and interventionism, interpret the political cartoon here. 

Class Discussion First on your own write down your answer to the question: What side would you have been on, isolationist or interventionist? Why? Give at least two reasons. We will discuss as a class shortly.

Lend Lease Act In 1940, President Franklin Roosevelt declared that the U.S. would be the "Arsenal of Democracy." USA = array of resources + democracy There was still opposition to the idea of supplying the Allies but Americans began to take the view that the risk of doing nothing was too high  but the cost of entering & fighting in the war directly was even higher. Eventually F.D.R. brought “Lend-Lease” idea to Congress and was passed through. Now the Allies would receive the supplies they desperately needed to fight the Axis powers.
